The Writing Edge is a national education program created by MeadWestvaco Corp. and Scholastic Marketing Partners to provide teachers nationwide with curriculum-based lessons and support materials to help middle school students improve writing skills and prepare for high school. This year’s program will focus on the topic of research, Grand prize winners receive $750 U.S. Savings Bonds and a backpack filled with Mead school supplies. Each winner’s teachers receive an assortment of Mead products and a Scholastic gift certificate. One winning essay is selected per grade level. Also, five runners up in each grade level are awarded a backpack filled with Mead school supplies.
