Google buys word-processing technology

ZDNet.com reports that Google announced Thursday, March 9, that it has purchased Upstartle, maker of the web-based word processor Writley. The service was launched in August of 2005, and can handle documents in the Open Document format, as well as files created by Open Office, an open-source rival to Microsoft.
