Groups give free access to 300,000 eBooks

The Associated Press reports that two nonprofits– Project Gutenberg and the World eBook Library–plan to make over 300,000 eBooks available online for the a month at the first World Book Fair. Free downloads will be available at the fair’s website, starting July 4. The majority of the works provided will be donated. Normally, access to the World eBook Library costs $8.95 per year. Project Gutenberg founder Michael Hart said that the partners are currently on track to make one million books available by the 2009 fair, and about 100,000 will always be permanently available at Project Gutenberg sites worldwide…
