New software installed in Boulder and Longmont, Colo., high school computer labs is giving teachers a technological superpower: From their screens, they’re able to monitor what’s happening on those of their students, the Boulder Daily Camera reports. The schools are using SynchronEyes software, which allows a teacher’s computer to connect with all others in the class and control internet access. That means students might want to think twice before sending an electronic love note on Facebook.com or playing online poker. The software comes as a growing number of college professors and high school teachers complain their students are easily distracted by the internet. Nearly 48 schools and colleges in Colorado are using the software, according to its maker. Each license costs about $1,200. Emilio Bernabei, director of software and content for SynchronEyes, said the application allows teachers to be in charge of learning. The software—which can be used on desktop computers, wireless laptops, or mobile devices—can make sure that all students are on the same computer screen.
