IU celebrates new $32M data center with tours

Indiana University is celebrating its new $32 million data center–built to protect its computers from floods, power outages, tornados, and other emergencies–by giving a reception and opening the facility to the campus community, reports the Associated Press. Hundreds of people are expected Nov. 5 at the IU Data Center’s formal dedication, which will include a reception and tours of the bunkered, concrete building. The center houses IU’s servers, data storage units, and supercomputers. It also protects computer systems that handle course records, degrees, and financial information. IU says the new building is the largest data center among Indiana colleges…
