Ever wonder how the deafening gunshots and explosions on the "Halo" video game are created? Or the crushing sounds of a quarterback sack in the Madden football games? Beginning next month, reports the Pasadena Star-News, Pinnacle College in Alhambra, Calif., will offer a 16-month program in video game audio production–the nation’s first accredited degree program in that field, according to Eitan Teomi, the program’s director. But it won’t be cheap. Tuition is $38,000. And while students enrolling before classes begin in December get a $3,000 tuition discount, that’s still a lot of money. Yet Teomi said the video game explosion over the past 10 years–which reached more than $21 billion in sales last year–could be a driving factor for enrollment. Pinnacle College President Sal Younissaid the program will focus on preparing students for those high-paying jobs.
