One-to-one computing: The last piece of the puzzle

Email Email    Post to Twitter

laptopstudent1-263x300Educational technology once meant taking a weekly trip to a PC-filled computer lab, or using a classroom projector or PowerPoint for a presentation. But today, technology is as ubiquitous in schools as it is everywhere else. Modern students are digital natives–they’ve grown up with constant access to laptops, cell phones, the internet, mp3 players, and other tech tools for both homework and social use.

One-to-one computer programs, in which students have their own laptops to bring to and from school, represent an extension of this 24/7 technology environment. But these programs require more than machines. Planning and foresight are critical if they are to be truly beneficial for students and teachers.

With the generous support of Lenovo, the editors of eSchool News have compiled this collection of stories from our archives, along with other relevant resources from around the web, to help you and your staff thoroughly research one-to-one solutions for your school.
