‘TestWiz’ Now Allows Educators to Analyze Student Results from the ‘STAR’ Series of Assessments

Harvard, MA, August 12, 2010 – dataMetrics, a Massachusetts-based company specializing in test processing and reporting software for K-12 educational institutions, has added the STAR series of assessments from Renaissance Learning, Inc. to the portfolio of assessments that can be viewed through the TestWiz system. STAR Reading, STAR Early Literacy and STAR Math are standardized, computer-adaptive assessments for K-12 students.

TestWiz school systems that administer the STAR tests to their students can opt to have the test results loaded into TestWiz. Once in the system, educators can disaggregate test results by subtests, strands, cut scores, teachers, and demographics to analyze the data. While most assessments only show results for any given test, TestWiz allows schools and districts to view STAR assessment data alongside other assessments. And, using the Correlation Report, the STAR data can be correlated to other tests to predict student performance on those tests, providing educators with a useful resource when evaluating and acting on assessment results.

“Both the new state Education Reform Act of 2009 and the federal Race to the Top (RttT) requirements will be placing new emphasis upon the way teachers and principals are evaluated and compensated based upon the achievement levels of their students. I can think of no better tool than TestWiz for the way it allows us to track results on multiple assessments for and by teacher. The new Correlation Report will come in very handy in telling us whether performance on the STAR assessments is a good predictor of performance on the State tests,” said Dr. Gerald Fournier, Superintendent of Palmer Public Schools in Palmer, Massachusetts.
