Press Release: CK-12 Foundation now offering FlexBook titles in ePub format for iPad use
CK-12 Foundation, a non-profit organization working to reduce the cost of textbook materials for the K-12 market in the U.S. and worldwide, is now offering beta versions of select FlexBook titles in ePub format for use with iPads.
These beta versions are available on the CK-12 site at http://www.ck12.org/flexr/browse/epub/. The site also offers instruction on how to download with the iBooks app using iTunes.
“We are excited to be moving our FlexBooks in this direction, as iPads and digital readers promise to be an important component of K-12 education in the coming years,” said Neeru Khosla, co-founder and executive director of CK-12 Foundation. “Our hope is that teachers will pilot these books in the iPad format and send us their feedback so we can further refine the formatting and make it a seamless process for our users.”
FlexBook titles featured in this iPad pilot program include: Biology, Geometry, Life Science, People’s Physics Book and Probability and Statistics (Advanced). As more FlexBooks become available in ePub format, they will be listed at http://www.ck12.org/flexr/browse/epub/.
