Read more by tdomf_5d1d9Brecksville, OH – October 1, 2010 — Software Answers, Inc., a provider of web-based software for the K-12 education market, announced today that it was recently selected to partner with the Management Council of the Ohio Education Computer Network (MCOECN) to advance the development of Ohio’s most utilized Student Information System, DASL (Data Analysis for Student Learning).
DASL is a state-of-the-art, web-based, pre-K-12 student information system with modules including student contact information, medical records, fees, transcripts, proficiency assessments, course scheduling, reporting, historical data, Cornucopia (integration with third-party applications) and formatting and transmitting state-required data to EMIS (Education Management Information System). EMIS is the Ohio Department of Education’s (ODE) data collection mechanism for school district, student and staff demographics, attendance, financials and test scores.
MCOECN Executive Director, Greg Spencer said, “Ohio’s Information Technology Centers (ITC) looked for a partner to advance DASL, manage the day-to-day development, and lower overall costs to Ohio School districts. Software Answers’ solid experience with K-12 education software, the fact that their ProgressBook product is already integrated with DASL, and their already-established presence in over 75% of Ohio schools make this a great match-up. We’re very excited about the future of DASL and Software Answers’ development plans for the software.” Sixteen of Ohio’s 23 ITCs offer DASL to their school district customers as their primary student information system.
Paul Chaffee, Software Answers’ CEO said, “We’re delighted to have the opportunity to continue the development of DASL, add new features, and further the integration of DASL with ProgressBook, our web-based electronic grade book. The combination of these two Internet-based packages working seamlessly together will provide huge benefits, great time savings and reduced expenses to school districts taking advantage of both applications.”
This agreement allows MCOECN to continue offering DASL to Ohio school districts, and permits Software Answers the ability to market DASL nationwide to school districts outside of Ohio. As enhancements are made to DASL to satisfy the needs of non-Ohio schools, Ohio Schools will receive these enhancements at no additional cost. Software Answers plans to systematically add state-reporting capabilities to DASL for the remaining states so school districts nationwide can satisfy their state’s unique reporting requirements to receive state education funding.
