Press Release: Dr. Erick Witherspoon to Discuss Accelerating Achievement Through Cultural Proficiency and Differentiated Instruction
Kaplan K12 Learning Services is hosting a free webinar on Thursday, March 15 at 4 p.m. ET on “Eliminating the Achievement Gap with Cultural Proficiency and Differentiated Instruction,” led by Erick E. Witherspoon Ed.D., principal of Lena Preston Elementary School in Rialto, Calif.
Dr. Witherspoon will be speaking about the importance and impact of building successful relationships between diverse individuals, and providing differentiated instruction to eliminate the achievement gap. He will share the positive transformation that occurred at Preston Elementary, including the solid results that their scholars have achieved year after year. Attendees will learn ways to increase student achievement by removing barriers of access, promoting engagement and developing instruction to meet each students’ individual learning style.
In addition to serving as an elementary school principal, Dr. Witherspoon serves as an adjunct professor at the University of Redlands, School of Education, in Redlands, Calif. Recent awards and recognitions include the San Bernardino County Education Medal of Honor nominee, San Bernardino County Making a Difference Award Recipient, California School Board Association’s Golden Bell Award, ACSA – San Bernardino County Elementary Principal of the Year, and the California Association of African-American Superintendents Emerging Superintendent award, among many others. Dr. Witherspoon earned a bachelor of science from Newman University, a master’s degree from Wichita State University, and a doctorate in leadership for educational justice from the University of Redlands.
