The response from my year 7 science students when I mentioned that I would agree to them bringing their mobile devices to take notes in the class next term (I teach in Canberra Australia)was why not next lesson! They were most excited about the prospect with one student (one of the high flyers)asking me if she would be disadvantaged if see didn't own such a device.

The stubbling block is the IT team/administation as they need to test the system!

So I shall see what happens when we return to school at the end of the month.

The problem with technology in school is students being monitored on what they are doing on the computers. Students in urban areas do t have the focus or internal motivation to seek out their own content online. Yes, we've tried.

It's great to see survey data validating what we've been anecdotally seeing for the past few years. Tech allows for more personalized learning and parents are starting to see it as more than a distraction. Thanks for sharing this excellent article!
