Atomic Learning’s New Internet Safety Training Helps Schools Meet E-Rate Requirements

June 5, 2012 — Little Falls, Minnesota — Ed tech PD provider Atomic Learning has recently added new content to its training library, including 2 new resources related to internet safety – a spotlight collection of resources that helps administrators meet E-rate requirements and an internet safety workshop.

The Keeping Kids Safe Online Spotlight provides professional development for educators to help students learn how to navigate the Internet safely, in addition to helping administrators meet E-rate requirements of the Children’s Internet Protection Act (CIPA) and the Protecting Children in the 21st Century Act.
The new Internet Safety Workshop highlights the fact that everything we post on the Internet is both public and permanent. Viewers will learn the dangers of posting on the internet and what actions to take in order to prevent them.
Also added to the Atomic Learning training library includes software training on Edmodo and WordPress 3.3 and a workshop on Plagiarism.

Edmodo is a free social networking site for teachers and students that offers a safe environment to communicate, collaborate, and have fun. The new online training series from Atomic Learning will show users how to sign up and set up an account for Edmodo and demonstrate how to use the many features, such as posting assignments and quizzes, populating a library of content, and even awarding recognition to students.

With the WordPress 3.3 training series, viewers will learn everything from writing blog posts to moderating comments to customizing a site with themes & plugins in WordPress 3.3. WordPress is a free state-of-the-art personal publishing platform with a focus on aesthetics, Web standards, and usability. It’s designed to make creating your own Weblog easy and flexible.
From learning what information requires citation, to learning how to paraphrase and use in-text citation, to creating reference and works cited pages using free online tools, the Plagiarism Workshop helps viewers avoid the serious consequences faced by not knowing about the rules of citation.
