Press Release: MACKIN PARTNERS WITH MELSA AND THE LEGACY AMENDMENT TO PROVIDE TEEN AUTHOR SERIES IN TWIN CITIES
BURNSVILLE, MINN (February 1, 2013) – Winter is heating up in the Twin Cities as favorite teen authors come to the area for a free series of talks. Sponsored by The Metropolitan Library Service Agency (MELSA) and the Legacy Amendment in partnership with Mackin Educational Resources and other organizations, Teens Know Best (TKB) offers eight opportunities to meet the hottest authors at events held within a seven-county region of Minneapolis and St. Paul, Minnesota.
The author appearances will take place on Saturdays beginning February 9 with Jay Asher and concluding on April 13 with Barry Lyga. Who comes in between? Steve Brezenoff on February 16, Lauren Myracle on February 23, Jordan Sonnenblick on March 9, Neal Shusterman on March 16, Andrea Cremer on March 23, and Tamora Pierce on April 6. All TKB sessions are an hour and a half—1:00-2:30 pm—and offer terrific opportunities for teens to hear, meet, and be inspired by authors writing just for them.
The Teens Know Best sessions are free, geared toward the young adult reader, and open to the public. Teachers and librarians are also welcome and encouraged to attend. Five continuing education credits (CEUs) will be available per session, with up to 40 CEUs for the series, for just $20 total to educators who meet the requirements.
