Press Release: TE21 Names Veteran Superintendent New President
TE21 Names Carl Harris President
TE21, Inc., an education company with offices in Charleston, SC, and Durham, NC, announced today the appointment of veteran educator Dr. Carl E. Harris as its new President. Cindy B. Hollar will remain as Chief Executive Officer.
Dr. Harris has served as a consultant to TE21 since his return to North Carolina from the U.S. Department of Education where he was Deputy Assistant Secretary of Education. Previously, he was Superintendent of Durham Public Schools, the 8th largest district in North Carolina, and Franklin County Schools, NC.

He brings to our company a local and national perspective and a passion for customer service.”
In 2012, Carl Harris was honored with the Distinguished Alumni Award from North Carolina State University for his contributions to education in North Carolina and nationally. He was selected as a member of the inaugural Broad Urban Superintendents Academy, a prestigious experience that is recognized for training education leaders of some of the largest school districts in the country. His fellow superintendents named him to lead their regional network and selected him as Central Carolina Regional Superintendent of the Year.
Harris holds Advanced Certification for School Administrators and has a doctorate in Education Administration from North Carolina State. He earned his master’s and education specialist degrees from East Carolina University.
Among his many honors are the Order of the Long Leaf Pine, North Carolina’s Highest Civilian Award, the University Council for Educational Administration Educational Leadership Award, and the National Association of Gifted Children Educator Award.
Harris is a native of Franklin County, NC.
