The VHS Collaborative Simplifies & Speeds Course Registration with Genius SIS
Selects and integrates Genius SIS to provide students and Site Coordinators with quicker and easier class registration.
June 25, 2013, Maynard, MA & Sunrise, FL – The Virtual High School (VHS) Collaborative (http://thevhscollaborative.org), the nonprofit pioneer of K-12 online learning, today announced that it has selected and implemented Genius Student Information System (SIS). VHS has deployed Genius to help serve a rapidly growing student population, making it possible for students to self-enroll in VHS online courses and for VHS Site Coordinators worldwide to register students more efficiently.
In 2011, VHS set out to replace its previous student information system with a sustainable solution that improved the organization’s efficiency and customer service across all lines of business. The organization selected Genius because it met all of their goals and was able to be customized extensively to meet their precise needs.
“The first day of registration is always a chaotic time,” said Jeff Elliott, President and Chief Executive Officer. “Our recent registration for the Fall semester was the true test. Thanks to Genius and their talented staff, we at VHS were able to easily process more than 3,500 enrollments in 162 different courses in just two hours.”
In addition to simplifying registration, Genius also provides VHS with rich data analytics relative to students, courses and schools and on-demand reporting. In the coming months, the organization will integrate it with the Desire2Learn platform and will streamline the way teachers submit term grades, which will result in efficiencies for teachers, coordinators and staff.
As a nonprofit collaborative of schools, VHS’ mission is to provide students with access to high quality online learning experiences and courses not offered at their school, while supporting educators with the professional development and services they need to provide an effective 21st century education to every student. VHS member schools have access to a range of core, elective, and AP® courses as well as gifted and talented courses for middle school and high school students that inspire, ignite and deepen learning.
Beny Lederman, Genius SIS Founder and CEO called the partnership with the VHS Collaborative important. “The Collaborative was one of the first virtual high schools in the world, and they have a reputation for being pioneers in the industry,” Lederman said. “We’re proud to have been selected by VHS, and will work hard to make them proud of their decision, too.” Lederman commended on the staff at VHS, which was professional, organized and worked hard as a team to make the launch a success. “VHS had a unique set of requirements and we worked well together to build a custom solution that deals with the complexities of their operation.”
