Whitman College Expands Its Commitment to Student Safety with DefenCall’s Campus StaySafe Smartphone Panic Button Solution
Smartphone app allows students to tap a button to make an emergency call to campus security and simultaneously send alert messages with their name, phone number and GPS location to designated recipients for improved response

July 23, 2013 – New Canaan, CT – Defentect Group, Inc. (OTC Pink: DFTC) a leading intelligent threat awareness firm, through its subsidiary DefenCall, Inc., today announced that Whitman College, located in Walla Walla, Washington, has deployed the Company’s Campus StaySafe™ smartphone panic button system.

Campus StaySafe is an app that runs on students’ and staffs’ smartphones and allows them to immediately contact campus security in an emergency. Tapping the panic button makes an immediate call to campus security and sends alert messages identifying the caller, their phone number and GPS location. This results in more effective response as security dispatchers and school officials have full information on the caller and their location at the time of the call.

The Campus StaySafe app also offers a “Green Dot” social support feature that allows students to set up a network of friends that can be contacted by text message when non-emergency help is needed. This feature can keep situations from evolving into emergencies, for example defusing an awkward meeting with an “ex.” Additionally, Campus StaySafe for Whitman College includes links to safety information and campus safety programs.
