Press Release: ASCD Invites Educator-Driven Conversation with the ASCD Forum and #ASCDEdSpace
Alexandria, VA (1/16/2014)—ASCD, a global community dedicated to excellence in learning, teaching, and leading, announces two new ways for educators to shape teacher leadership. From now through April 11, 2014, educators are encouraged to participate in the ASCD Forum online via the ASCD EDge® social networking community and in-person at the 69th ASCD Annual Conference and Exhibit Show.
The ASCD Forum starts on January 16 and invites all educators to explore the question, “How do we cultivate and support teacher leaders?” This topic is integral to educators worldwide, and the educator-driven conversation—featuring both online and face-to-face discourse—will explore the thoughts of the education community. Conversations developed through the ASCD Forum will be used to inform ASCD positioning on teacher leadership and teacher support.
The ASCD Forum is accepting educator ideas and feedback on teacher leadership in a variety of easily accessible ways. These include a Twitter chat, a face-to-face session during Annual Conference, and a webinar. Throughout the ASCD Forum, we invite educators to write and comment on ASCD EDge blog posts that align with forum discussion themes.
Attendees at the 69th Annual Conference and Exhibit Show in Los Angeles, Calif., are invited to attend the ASCD Forum face-to-face session (#2124) hosted by ASCD President Becky Berg on Sunday, March 16, 8:00–9:30 a.m.
The first-ever ASCD EdSpace will also convene at the 2014 Annual Conference and Exhibit Show. The ASCD Forum session at Annual Conference is part of a broad thought-leadership initiative—coined #ASCDEdSpace—available throughout the conference. Much like EdCamp and un-conference approaches, #ASCDEdSpace will be produced by educators, for educators. Facilitated by ASCD emerging leaders, the topics of these discussions will be chosen by attendees.
#ASCDEdSpace will be available throughout the conference:
Saturday, March 15, 8:00–9:30 a.m., 1:00–2:30 p.m., and 3:00–4:30 p.m.
Sunday, March 16, 1:00–2:30 p.m. and 3:00–4:30 p.m.
Monday, March 17, 8:00–9:30 a.m., 10:00–11:30 a.m., and 1:00–2:30 p.m.
“ASCD is proud to provide educators with a variety of platforms to grow as leaders,” said ASCD Executive Director and CEO Dr. Gene R. Carter. “Both the ASCD Forum and #ASCDEdSpace do just that: they provide educators with an outlet to share their interests and passions in a meaningful environment.”
