Press Release: 3-D printers and curriculum highlight 2014 Hearlihy catalog

A key trend in industry and education is 3-D printing, or rapid prototyping. To help students learn this skill, Hearlihy’s new catalog offers exclusive 3-D printing curriculum and full packages developed just for schools.

The 3-D Printing: Designing and Prototyping Package includes everything needed to get started with rapid prototyping in the classroom: an Afinia 3D Printer, blue and white ABS filament, software for PC or Mac, the 3-D Printing: Designing and Prototyping Curriculum, and 3-D Printing: Designing and Prototyping Class Pack. Using all of this, students quickly learn about engineering and rapid prototyping processes. For those who already have a 3-D printer, both the curriculum package and class pack are also sold separately.

Other new items in the catalog include the BFF Balsa Foam Flyer, which combines the easy build of a foam glider with the power of a rubber motor-powered airplane, and the Sky Eagle Plane, a classic rubber motor-powered plane with a balsa wood frame. Plus, author and engineer Harry Roman is back with Science and Technology in Our World, an activity book packed with science and technology activities.

Of course, the 2014 Hearlihy Drafting & Supplies catalog continues to provide quality materials and curriculum in the areas of Drafting Tools and Equipment, Furniture/Printers, Screen Printing, Model Building, Transportation, Flight, Alternative Energy, Manufacturing, and Criminology.
