What is it? StoriesAlive has launched its first-ever set of storybook creation apps, MyStories, which allow children to craft their own narratives by adding text, audio and photos to personalize each page.

Best for: Children ages 3-8

Price: Free with 6 trial stories; In-app purchases available

Rated: 4+

Requirements: iOS 6.0 or later; compatible with iPad. Requires Android 4.0 and up.

Features:
Using their tablets, children can:

  • Craft narratives about themselves or their grandparents (i.e., personal characteristics, favorite color, favorite TV show) by adding text, audio and up to six photos on each page;
  • Take videos/photos and record their voice to bring their imaginations to life;
  • Create a “hot spot” – designated area for custom audio – on each page, which plays their custom-made sound when tapped;
  • Draw/color wherever they’d like throughout their storybook.
