Scottsdale, Ariz. (May 7, 2014) – rSmart, a leader in enterprise resource planning (ERP) software for higher education, announced today that California State University, Monterey Bay has selected rSmart Cloud Express for Kuali Coeus to replace the university’s current electronic research administration (eRA) system.
In early 2013, the Cal State Monterey Bay Sponsored Programs Office initiated an eRA Systems Review to document their current requirements, evaluate alternatives, discover gaps, and obtain an estimate from the top-ranked alternatives.
In keeping with the university’s IT directive, the Sponsored Programs Office examined cloud-based eRA solutions analogous to their current system’s proposal tracking and proposal development modules. They also looked for solutions that included enhanced reporting, alert capabilities, a user-friendly interface, and robust technical and help desk support.
“After a comprehensive review process, it was determined that rSmart Cloud Express for Kuali Coeus exceeded the functional requirements, met the university’s technical requirements, is a stable and growing application with an outstanding reputation, and has been adopted by Primarily Undergraduate Institutions (PUIs),” said Jennifer Bliss, Sponsored Programs Technology & Compliance Specialist.
Cloud Express will provide Cal State Monterey Bay with an affordable, turn-key solution to manage the many tasks involved in sponsored program and compliance management. It also includes added capabilities like out-of-the-box reporting, best practices pre-configuration, deployment services, unlimited user support, and free upgrades.
“With Cloud Express, we will have the opportunity to improve efficiencies and streamline the many tasks involved with pre-award, post-award and compliance management including IRB, COI and IACUC. We will also save money by reducing our IT burden and eliminating the need for stand-alone products in other areas or departments,” said Cindy Lopez, Sponsored Programs Director.
Cal State Monterey Bay will be part of rSmart’s Pillar Partner Program, which brings together a select group of colleges and universities to provide insight and innovation for rSmart’s next generation of grant and research management solutions.
“As colleges and universities continue to move software and systems off-campus and into the cloud at an accelerated pace, rSmart and Kuali are evolving to meet the dynamic needs of higher education. It is an honor to have been selected by Cal State Monterey Bay and we look forward to a long-standing and collaborative partnership,” said Chris Coppola, rSmart CEO.
