Press Release: Learning Upgrade Releases New Math Course in Time for Summer
Math Upgrade 7 released in time to support current and incoming students over the summer
(SAN DIEGO) May 13, 2014 — To ensure 7th grade students stay sharp over the summer, and to support incoming students, Learning Upgrade is releasing Math Upgrade 7, a course of engaging multimedia, Common Core aligned math lessons.
Designed by educators, Learning Upgrade’s courses integrate popular songs, video and games to help students reach and exceed grade level requirements outlined by the Common Core standards.
“Teachers have been anticipating the release of Math Upgrade 7, and we couldn’t be more excited to have the courses available for use in preventing the summer slide,” said Vinod Lobo, co-founder and CEO of Learning Upgrade.
Math Upgrade 7 is designed to support student mastery of all 7th grade Common Core standards in math. Students are guided through 60 step-by-step lessons to ensure they meet the rigors of the Common Core. Each lesson provides practice problems accompanied by immediate intervention and remediation with multimedia supports. Students repeat low scoring lessons to mastery, earning a gold certificate when proficient on every Common Core standard.
The Math Upgrade 7 course includes an initial set of 50 Common Core lessons, with additional lessons added during the summer. Each full course takes students 20-25 hours, both in the classroom and at home, to complete and earn a certificate.
To further support educators in their fight against the summer slide, Learning Upgrade is offering complimentary summer school licenses to any school that applies on their site. The free summer licenses offer educators full access to all of Learning Upgrade’s K-8 courses, including the new Math Upgrade Common Core lessons.
“As more schools make the transition to Common Core, we know that even the best students will need extra support,” said Lobo. “Our hope is that by providing complimentary access over the summer, educators will have the tools they need to ensure every student is set up for success.”
The company plans to release Math Upgrade 8; a similar course designed for 8th grade students, later this summer. Math Upgrade 1 through 6 are already available.
