New electronics kit designed to appeal to a wide range of students

BirdBrain Technologies, a spinoff of Carnegie Mellon University, has launched a Kickstarter campaign to help fund the launch of its Hummingbird Duo, which might be the first electronics kit that is fun and educational for a fourth grader, a high school student, and a college engineering student alike.

The Hummingbird Duo provides several levels of engineering and technology learning, where mastering each step allows students to use the Hummingbird Robotics Kit in new and more interesting ways, BirdBrain says. The technology is open source and runs on Windows, Mac, and Linux. Pledging money on Kickstarter entitles funders to varying discounts on Hummingbird kits.

The Hummingbird Robotics Kit was chosen to appear in the National School Boards Association’s 2014 Technology Innovation Showcase. It also won a Parents’ Choice Gold Award in 2014. Visit ISTE Booth 2962 to learn more.
