Collaboration enables schools to streamline identity management processes

LYNBROOK, New York – Oct. 17, 2014 – Tools4ever, the market leader in identity and access management (IdM/IAM) solutions, and Pearson, the world’s leading learning company, are joining forces through an independent software vendor (ISV) partnership agreement. As a result of the collaboration, Tools4ever will automate functionality for identity and password management solutions in Pearson’s PowerSchool student information system.

PowerSchool, the most widely used web-based student information system, supports more than 13 million students globally. PowerSchool enables today’s educators to make timely decisions that impact student performance while creating a collaborative environment for parents, teachers and students to work together in preparing 21st century learners for the future.

In reference to the new collaboration, Dean Wiech, managing director at Tools4ever said, “As a Pearson ISV Partner, we can combine our resources to provide a superior solution for school districts, and reduce headaches with account and password management.”

Tools4ever now offers a connection from its User Management Resource Administrator (UMRA) solution to PowerSchool. This connection allows school districts to automate and streamline identity management, which reduces the time and resources their IT departments spend dealing with account management issues. Specifically, system administrators can automate the creation, movement and de-provisioning of employee and student accounts in Active Directory, Google and Office 365 as well as cafeteria, e-learning, transportation, library and other systems. As a result, no manual action is needed for user account lifecycle management.

At the beginning of each school year, hundreds of accounts must be created and during the school year, changes and updates must be made. In addition, students require access to various applications, e-mail environments, the file system and the e-learning environment throughout the year. Pearson collaborated with Tools4ever to meet schools’ need for a solution that automates the connection with PowerSchool for faster turnaround times for creating accounts accurately and the ability to apply a workflow for approvals and downstream provisioning.

“This new collaboration between Tools4ever and Pearson offers time-saving benefits to PowerSchool customers, allowing for improved efficiencies in identity management and automated user account management,” said Oliver Wreford, vice president of product and marketing at Pearson.
