HP technology solutions aim to boost outcomes


Assessment technology, training, software bundles among new tools

HP-technologyAs part of an effort to produce meaningful outcomes for students, teachers, and communities through the use of technology, HP has introduced assessment technology, hardware products, software bundles, and online educator training courses.

The release includes:

  • National Education Technology Assessment
  • HP Education Edition tablets and a notebook
  • HP School Pack Software for education edition products
  • HP Education Cloud-first devices
  • Link Technology for Education
  • HP Teaching with Technology online courses

The HP National Education Technology Assessment (NETA) program, designed to build sustainable education technology strategies and assess the impact of technology-based interventions in schools, includes developing the best approaches and establishing cultural readiness to maximizing student achievement. Additionally, the NETA assessment technology verifies that students aren’t just showing up at school, but actually learning and preparing for their future.

HP Education Editions are built to withstand the rigors of daily academic use and feature battery life that can last the entire school day. They’re designed for learning with the all-new HP School Pack, a set of tools to enhance instruction, engagement, and encourage active educational use.

The HP Pro Tablet 10 EE and HP Pro Slate 10 EE Education Edition Tablets feature a 10-inch diagonal HD touch anti-glare display, with a family of optional learning accessories like a tethered and garaged stylus and hard-wired keyboard base that meets student assessment requirements.

The HP ProBook 11 Education Edition notebook is constructed using co-molded industrial rubber. The powerful and versatile HP ProBook 11 EE boasts up to Intel® Core™ performance with optional touchscreen, empowering breakthrough experiences miles beyond netbooks.

At launch, the tablet and notebook HP Education Editions are preloaded with a host of instructional, management and supplemental tools called HP School Pack. HP School Pack is anchored by HP Classroom Manager Student Edition, which allows teachers to take control of the classroom, manage class PCs, and communicate seamlessly with students. The HP School Pack includes: HP Classroom Manager Student Edition, one-year Absolute Data Protection Basic to protect student devices & data, the Oxford® Advanced Learners Dictionary, OverDrive™ including a library of eBooks and audiobooks curated for HP, and PASCO® SPARKVue™.

HP Cloud-first devices are mobile, affordable and manageable. Priced for education and enabled to harness the power of the cloud are the HP Stream 11 Pro for Education and HP family of Chromebook™ devices (HP Chromebook 11 and HP Chromebook 14).

HP Stream 11 Pro includes Windows 8.1 Pro, and offers up to 8-hours of battery life. 1 Qualified school IT personnel can manage these “cloud-first” devices using Microsoft® Windows™ Intune™ and Active Directory.

Link Technology creates a fully interactive, cost effective link between the printed and digital worlds utilizing HP’s fleet of augmented reality tools. By simply holding a web-connected mobile device over textbooks and other education material, users can trigger new experiences and learning modalities, such as interactive apps, instructional videos and reference material. The technology enables video explanation of core concepts, assessments probing students’ understanding, interactions and sharing of projects. The feedback loop for students can drive adaptive learning with customized and personalized experiences aimed at improving learning outcomes.

HP also announced a new, global online course for ministers of education and teachers. HP PISA (Program for International Student Assessment): A Tool for Teaching and Learning provides the history, usage and interpretation of the leading international assessment standard. Further, mini-courses in PISA Math, PISA Science and PISA Reading offer the world’s teachers the opportunity to maximize their understanding of the PISA standards and integrate technology into their instruction in the most effective ways. HP also offer custom courses to provincial and national governments that provide the ultimate in flexibility for scheduled, self-paced, and dedicated courses.
