The Internet of Things is coming to your school
After being introduced to the Internet of Things (IoT) by a local software company, Tiffany Davis’ first instinct was to consider what the concept would look like in the K-12 setting. “It was appealing to me because [IoT] is the direction that most products are taking in the business world,” said Davis, who is the instructional technology specialist at John R. Briggs Elementary School in Ashburnham, Mass.
6 ways to support computer science education
U.S. schools should make every effort to expand computer science education to keep up with workforce demands, according to a new report from the Information Technology and Innovation Foundation (ITIF).
Cengage sees digital outpace textbook sales for first time
For its fiscal year 2016, Cengage Learning reported that digital unit sales outpaced print textbook sales for the first time. For the 12 months ending March 31, 2016, Cengage Learning activated 3.5 million digital student experiences, up 12 percent from the prior year.
Students suggest how to fix standardized testing
As the Tennessee Department of Education works to find a new standardized testing vendor for the upcoming school year, a group of fifth-graders at Nolan Elementary are encouraging the state to rethink its approach to standardized testing.
