		<description><![CDATA[New Gateway Network members are selected through a rigorous discovery and selection process, which includes meetings with National Network staff both at an existing Gateway program and at the applicant college, submission of a letter of interest, and a budget review. Since Gateway To College represents a partnership between colleges and their local school districts, the application requires the participation of school district leadership. Once colleges are selected, they immediately begin hiring program staff who participate in intensive planning and training in preparation for program opening the following fall. Colleges use per-pupil funds from their local K-12 education partners to cover the cost of student tuition, books, and on-going student support.]]></description>

		<description><![CDATA[Pets in the Classroom now offers four different grant opportunities for elementary school teachers. The program's original grant is the Rebate Grant, which provides teachers with the opportunity to purchase a new classroom pet and supplies valued at $100 (small animal and bird) or $150 (fish and reptile) and recieve reimbursement from the program for their purchase. Teachers with existing classroom pets can be reimbursed $50 each year by applying for the program's sustaining grant. ]]></description>

		<description><![CDATA[To mark the unveiling of the RoboRescue Challenge, Pitsco Education is awarding eight event sets valued at $800 each: four to participating teams in each of the two early adopting states. In the RoboRescue Challenge, high school and post-secondary teams compete in creating remotely operated robots from the TETRIX Robotics System that help first responders find survivors in the immediate aftermath of a simulated disaster staged within a custom-designed playing field. Via video feed from a robot-mounted camera, student operators deliver critical life-support supplies to trapped disaster victims.]]></description>
