Subscribe to eSchool News Online RSS (Really Simple Syndication) feeds to get news delivered directly to your desktop.
1. Copy the URL/shortcut that corresponds to the topic that interests you.
2. Paste the URL into your reader.
Help with adding an RSS Feed:
RSS is an internet format that gives you a new way to quickly and easily access web-based headlines, blurbs, and article links from a wide variety of sources. It’s most often used for showing the latest headlines from online newspapers, magazines, web blogs, and vendor and technology information sites.
1. Using Automatic Discovery
To access an RSS feed you need a software program known as a news aggregator or RSS reader. If you already have a news aggregator and it supports auto-discovery, you can usually add an RSS link for a given site by using your aggregator to surf the home page of that web site.
2. Adding an RSS Link Manually
When auto-discovery doesn’t work, the manual process is easy enough:
1. Copy the RSS feed link from the content site. For many people, this is the most confusing step. If you see an RSS icon like this 
, and you’re using Internet Explorer in Windows, you can right-click this button and choose Copy Shortcut to copy the RSS link. Another option is to left-click the link and copy the URL from your browser’s address bar. You’ll often see unintelligible code in your browser window when you just click an RSS link. This is the XML stream, which is not intended to be interpreted by most browsers. (New plug-ins available for some web browsers make this possible, however).
2. Open your news aggregation tool, initiate a new channel, and paste the RSS link into the URL field. After a few seconds, the feed will populate in your RSS reader. The process of initiating a new channel goes by different names in different news aggregators. It might also be called “adding a new feed.” If necessary, consult your news aggregator’s Help or user documentation for more information.
Where to get a News Aggregator (or RSS Reader):
News aggregators are available in several varieties. They can be web-based services, standalone client software, or plug-ins for existing web browsers or eMail packages.
What is RSS?
Most sources define RSS as an acronym standing for Really Simple Syndication; other sources say the acronym derives from Rich Site Summary or RDF Site Summary. In fact, all may be correct.
Whatever the letters stand for, RSS is a light-weight XML format for distributing headlines, links, and brief descriptions of web-based content. Web content providers develop and serve RSS “feeds,” or streams of headline content designed to be accessed by news aggregator or RSS reader client software. An RSS reader lets you peruse headlines, read summaries, and click links to specific stories to open them right on their original web sites in your default web browser.
Terms of Use
RSS (Really Simple Syndication) service is a means by which eSchool News Online offers feeds of story headlines in XML format (“RSS Content”) to visitors to eSchoolNews.com who use RSS aggregators. These Terms of Use govern your use of the RSS service. The use of the RSS service also is subject to the terms and conditions of (service agreement link) which govern the use of eSchool News Online web sites, information services, and content. These Terms of Use may be changed by eSchool News Online at any time without notice.
Use of RSS Feeds:
RSS is a free service offered by eSchool News Online to individuals for private, non-commercial use. Any other uses, including without limitation the incorporation of advertising into or the placement of advertising associated with or targeted toward the RSS Content, are strictly prohibited. You must use the RSS feeds as provided by eSchool News Online, and you may not edit or modify the text, content or links supplied by eSchool News Online.

The RSS service may be used only with those platforms from which a functional link is made available that, when accessed, takes the viewer directly to the display of the full article on eSchool News Online. You may not display the RSS Content in a manner that does not permit successful linking to, redirection to or delivery of the applicable eSchool News Online web page. You may not insert any intermediate page, splash page or other content between the RSS link and the applicable eSchool News Online web page.
Ownership
eSchool News Online retains all ownership and other rights to the RSS Content, and any and all eSchoolNews.com logos and trademarks used in connection with the RSS Service. You must provide attribution to the appropriate eSchoolNews.com web site in connection with your use of RSS feeds. If you provide this attribution using a graphic, you must use the appropriate eSchoolNews.com web site’s logo incorporated into the RSS feed.
Right to Discontinue Feeds
eSchool News Online reserves the right to discontinue providing any or all of the RSS feeds at any time and to require you to cease displaying, distributing or otherwise using any or all of the RSS feeds for any reason including, without limitation, your violation of any provision of these Terms of Use. eSchool News Online assumes no liability for any of your activities in connection with the RSS feeds or for your use of the RSS feeds in connection with your web site.
