RESOURCES FOR EDUCATORS

Visual Learning
The benefits of using video and still images in classroom instruction have been well documented: They can improve attention, appeal to students with different learning styles, and help get a point across quickly and effectively.

Now, advances in technology are making it easier than ever for educators to incorporate digital images into their instruction--and these advances are transforming the way learning is taking place in classrooms from coast to coast. The editors of eSchool News have designed this collection of news and best practices to help you maximize the impact of visual learning in your classrooms and district offices.

Presentation Solutions for Effective Communication
From digital video and data projectors to interactive whiteboards and virtual reality, educators today face a dazzling array of presentation tools. Never before have educators had a greater opportunity to bring lessons to life for their students, reach out to community stakeholders, and communicate with the news media. With this resource center, eSchool News strives to bring educators up to date on the powerful opportunities that today's presentation solutions present.

Professional Enrichment
A major challenge for schools today is providing continued professional development for their teachers. With time, money, and resources already stretched to their limit, squeezing staff development alongside other priorities can seem like a daunting task. Now, through the explosion of online video, school systems can provide video-based training to their teachers at a reasonable cost, and sometimes even for free--videos that show exemplary teaching practices in action. eSchool News has assembled this resource center to help you take advantage of technology to facilitate professional enrichment.

Online Learning
The rise in virtual schooling over the past decade has had a profound effect that reverberates throughout K-12 and higher education. Rural students who are at a geographic disadvantage now can log on and take classes every bit as good--and as diverse--as their peers in urban schools. While the development of online education is a boon for students, it is rife with potential problems. The eSchool News editors compiled this list of resources to help you navigate the growing landscape of online learning.

24-7 Learning Communities
"24-7 learning communities" are strengthening the home-school connection and boosting parent involvement in their children's education--a proven factor in school success. We've assembled this collection of stories and articles from the recent eSN archives highlighting how schools around the country are capitalizing on the 24-7 learning community movement--and are succeeding as a result.
