a sample of what you've been missing from our ed-tech experts:
From Tom Hoffman ...
"Let's be clear from the outset that the hard part is not getting the idea
of creating a $100 laptop for students, nor is coming up with a nice design on
paper. Obviously the hard part is getting the thing manufactured and into children's
hands on time and at your projected price point. Nonetheless, we should all be
pleased with the MIT Media Lab's first specs and drawings of the $100 Laptop,
an idea first announced by Nicholas Negroponte in January.
... I'll be much more excited if they actually have a prototype
in November, as they're projecting. I don't know if they can pull this off, and
quite frankly, I'm not counting on it. But if they do, it will be an epochal
development in educational technology...."
