In their haste to wire classrooms and fill them with computers, many schools are overlooking some key and important considerations to make sure technology can be successfully used in the classroom.

Count on needing deskspace of at least 20″ x 40″, according to Charles McCain, an edutech consultant. Also, make sure the electrical supply is sufficient to power the machines you get, and take into account the extra heat they’ll generate. Bottom line: figure on $500-$1000 per student to prep a classroom — excluding the actual costs of the hardware and software.
