While the author’s article poses more questions than it answers, it does identify some basic sources of federal and nationwide funding that your schools may need as state and local funds for teacher training dry up.

Here are two major sources of funding to investigate:

  1. Technology Innovation Challenge Grant. Many state and federal grants allocate about 25 percent of funds for professional development. Focus on standards-based training and on training that emphasizes curriculum integration to maximize results.

  2. Title II Eisenhower Professional Development State Grants. These funds are designed to improve training at the district and building level.

The article also includes a list of 28 different sources of funding for teacher training.
