Digital database companies Infonautics Inc. and Bell & Howell Company have combined their K-12 education business units to form a new education venture, The new company, which is dedicated to supporting the entire K-12 learning community on the web, also acquired MediaSeek Technologies Inc., a leading provider of internet tools and services for teachers to match instructional resources to educational standards and learning needs.

The combination of Infonautics’ school business, which includes its Electric Library full-text online reference tool, and Bell & Howell’s existing education relationships through its ProQuest line of K-12 databases creates a market leader with greater revenues, stronger capabilities, and a significant reach into the needs of the educational community, according to’s management team is made up of educators, business leaders, and academics. Jack Lynch, former president of CCH Legal Information Services, will serve as’s CEO. The company’s senior management team also includes Barbara Kurshan, former chief technology officer of the Core Learning Group LLC; Susan Harman, former president of the Core Learning Group; and Sue Collins, former senior vice president of Jostens Learning Corp.
