eSchool News has launched a new feature on its web site that gives educators a chance to discuss certain industry trends and find out what companies are doing to meet the ever-evolving needs of schools. The new bulletin-board service offers a variety of channels for educators, including an opportunity to rate their experiences with leading ed-tech companies on a five-star scale. Submissions to the ratings scale are tabulated and used to provide colleagues with information they need to make informed purchasing decisions for their schools. Users will get the inside scoop on new product discounts through the board’s Pricing Alert, which will update product cost changes as they occur. Another feature, the eSchool News Educators Forum, marks the return of three popular listservs to eSchool News Online. Educators will be invited to discuss such topics as integrating technology, grants and funding, and school safety. Visitors also will be able to start message boards under topics of their own design and discuss whatever issues of concern they might have. The site welcomes postings and responses to any education-related topic, making it possible for teachers and administrators to exchange their thoughts the world over. To verify that all participants are bona fide educators, each visitor will be asked to register before participating. There is no fee for using the new service, and educators are encouraged to return whenever they have a question, concern, or thought to add.
