The National Aeronautics and Space Administration has put out a call for educators to help pilot the agency’s latest educational resource, called Virtual Skies. The new web site provides supplemental materials to aid in the teaching of geography, science, and mathematics. Students in science classes, for instance, can log onto Virtual Skies and access materials on radar technology to learn how concepts of sound and meteorology apply to the science of flight. The site includes seven different content sections, all with standards-based lessons designed to strengthen students’ decision-making skills, while providing them with information they need to understand complicated concepts. Each section contains a host of online activities, as well as complementary materials that can be downloaded as PDF files and printed for use in the classroom. The test period for the web site ends in June.
