Make a complex topic easier with ebrary’s free Middle East resources

As American troops hunker in for an extended stay in newly liberated Iraq—and as Iran now looms as another potential threat to the nation’s security—classroom teachers no doubt will be looking for resources to help educate their students about America’s continued involvement in Middle Eastern affairs. With this free resource, ebrary—a provider of online databases and resources for schools and libraries—now grants access to more than 100 full-text books and maps on the Middle East and related issues. Students will be able to research culture throughout the region, learn about politics, and explore the area’s rich and troubled history. The site also should provide a backdrop for lessons related to nation-building and reconstruction in wake of the Iraq war. Students and educators will find documents and texts on the rise of radical Islam and the technology behind modern warfare, as well as other regional issues, including the potential for peace in Israel and the West Bank.
