The National Science Foundation Director’s Award for Distinguished Teaching Scholars recognizes and rewards individuals who have contributed significantly to the scholarship of their discipline and the education of students in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM), and to enable the expansion of their efforts. The Director’s Award is the highest honor bestowed by the NSF for excellence in both teaching and research in STEM fields, or in educational research related to these disciplines. The awards will be presented at a special ceremony recognizing the awardees. Under this solicitation, proposals may request any amount up to $300,000 for a four-year project. NSF expects to fund approximately six awards depending on the quality of submissions and the availability of funds. Optional letters of intent to apply are due Nov. 3.
