Last spring, CAPCO announced the Science Class Challenge to mark the 25th anniversary of CFC-free propellants in aerosol products. Classrooms in grades 4-9 can win $500 to $5,000 for their school and a pizza party for their class. The purpose of the competition is to encourage students and teachers to learn about the Earth’s protective upper ozone layer, CFCs, and the environment by using the provided activities or their own creative methods. Teachers must visit the CAPCO web site (www.nocfcs.org) and use either a provided activity or their own creative method to teach about the Earth’s protective upper ozone layer, CFCs, and the environment. Teachers must also satisfactorily complete a brief online questionnaire to record results and feedback.
