Presented by the National Science Foundation and the American Association of Community Colleges, “Pathways to Technology: The Community College Route” is a new multimedia resource for high school students exploring career options, as well as adults considering a possible career change, and the teachers and counselors whose job it is to assist them along the way. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, careers in technology are not only the fastest growing, but also the leading occupations supported by two-year degrees. Current projections indicate that the technology industry will witness the largest job and salary growth of any industry. Across the country, technology fields are changing the face of community colleges, where students are getting cutting-edge, affordable educations, internships, and the skills they need to compete in a rapidly growing, high-performance economy. Featuring more than two hours of streaming video, the site introduces visitors to community college students pursuing two-year technology degree programs and the faculty who teach them. Students can see what college-level courses look like, learn about the support services colleges offer to accommodate a diverse array of students, and gain a broader understanding of the careers available to those with technology degrees.
