Launched in 2000, the Urban Challenge program, in cooperation with The United States Conference of Mayors, makes grants of up to $100,000 in networking technologies from 3Com Corp. to U.S. cities and school districts to improve education, bolster the skills of ordinary citizens, and introduce more convenient municipal services. These offerings include the latest line of 3Com switches, IP telephony, wireless, and security solutions, as well as design, project management, and support services. The equipment should be used to create a networking solution that meets their community’s needs. To date, 3Com has donated more than $4.6 million to 46 cities and school districts across the country.
