Nonprofit organizations and educational institutions in Indiana, especially those in communities where Verizon provides local telephone service, are invited to apply for competitive grants totaling $100,000 for technology and workforce development projects. Verizon is seeking proposals that support job retraining, school-to-work programs, teacher preparedness, welfare-to-work programs, economic development, and vocational and disability programs. Literacy proposals designed to create a better educated workforce also are sought. Individual grants will range from $1,000 to $25,000, although some could be higher. Proposals must be submitted through Verizon Foundation’s web site.
