The Verizon Foundation is inviting Texas elementary and middle (K-8) schools to submit applications to receive a total of $250,000 to support efforts that increase the use of computer technology for learning. Verizon is seeking proposals that assist teachers and students in teaching and learning through the use of computers and the internet, as well as proposals that focus on basic literacy programs that build on reading and writing skills for K-8 children through the use of computer and web-based literacy programs. Individual grants will range from $1,000 to $20,000. Proposals must be submitted through Verizon Foundation’s web site.
