Walter S. Johnson Foundation grants reflect two main goals: ensuring the well-being of children and youth and strengthening public education. The foundation supports policies, programs, and initiatives that increase the quality, availability, and accessibility of youth development programs, new teacher support, professional development, and leadership for student learning. The foundation typically does not fund more than a third of an organization’s overall budget. Proposals are accepted from nonprofit organizations throughout Northern California and Washoe County, Nevada. The foundation accepts applications twice per year.
