The Butler-Cooley Excellence in Teaching Awards honors teachers who have changed the outcome of students’ lives and the communities in which they live. The program is funded by a five-year grant from the John Wm. Butler Foundation Inc. and is named in honor of Leslie Bender Butler and Cindy Butler Cooley, who collectively have spent more than half a century as active teachers, shaping and influencing the lives of children in their communities. Three to five teachers will receive $5,000 cash stipends at the Turnaround Management Annual Convention in October in New York City.
