Now teachers easily can find supplemental reading and math programs designed to work with the textbooks they use in their classrooms, thanks to this new web site from Children’s Publishing, a division of School Specialty Inc. “TextbookCorrelations.com” is an online repository of standards-based supplemental reading and math programs correlated with several major textbooks. Children’s Publishing supplemental materials include brands such as Frank Schaffer, Instructional Fair, Ideal School Supply, and Judy Instructo, to name a few. What’s more, nearly 100 Children’s Publishing supplemental teaching products have been correlated with major reading and math publishers. Reading publishers include Harcourt Trophies, Houghton Mifflin Reading, Macmillan/McGraw-Hill Reading, SRA Open Court Reading, and Scott Foresman Reading. Math publishers include Everyday Mathematics, Harcourt Math, McGraw-Hill Mathematics, Saxon Math, and Scott Foresman-Addison Wesley Math. Children’s Publishing works closely with Align to Achieve, an independent, nonprofit organization that maintains a researched-based correlation system and database of preK-12 state content standards, available at no cost to school districts and nonprofits nationwide. Its system, similar to the Dewey Decimal system followed by libraries, allows teachers and parents to find materials correlated with individual state content standards quickly and easily, according to the site’s producers.
