NewsForge.com relates the story of a Northern Wisconsin organization called LongRun.org. The nonprofit group recycles, refurbishes, and builds computers that use Linux and open source software in rural northern Wisconsin. LongRun.org’s goal is to increase the number of computers in households with $35,000 annual income or less. Research has shown that only 36 percent of the households in this category own computers, as compared to 80 percent of those earning more than $75,000 per year.
