The U.S. Department of Education’s National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) sponsors a forum to help educators develop proven strategies for building an educational data system that will support local, state, and national efforts to improve the quality of education in the United States. The newly redesigned National Forum on Educational Statistics web site was developed to make browsing for resources easier for both forum members and the general public. The site includes the addition of three new resources: a guide to protecting the privacy of student information, a collection of NCES handbooks intended to define standard education terms and serve as an online reference for stakeholders, and a downloadable report on financial accounting for local and state school systems. A calendar of events makes visitors aware of the forum’s upcoming workshops and conferences, and new drop-down menus provide easy access to the forum’s other resources, including information on the No Child Left Behind Act and other education-related topics.
