FCC ruling gives power companies a broadband reach

The New York Times reports that the FCC has approved rules that would let utility companies provide broadband communications services through the electrical outlets in homes and businesses. Althought this technology is still at least a year away from being ready for market, the FCC decision will likely spur investment by the utility companies. (Note: This site requires registration.)
