New York curriculum shift could be blow to technology courses


The Ithaca Journal of Ithaca, N.Y., reports that technology teachers at a local middle school are nervous about New York State’s proposed middle-school curriculum changes. The state is considering revoking a requirement for mandatory courses in art, music and technology. These subjects, officials say, constitute “exploratory” fields. Students in the technology program say they are worried that losing these courses will hurt their potential in the workforce.
