Companies make it even harder to fool fingerprint scanners

The New York Times reports that security experts are looking at the possibility of going one step beyond fingerprint recognition scanners to determine whether the scanned fingerprint is actually attached to a real person. Two companies have unveiled technologies that read the pattern of blood vessels below the skin and the nature of the skin itself to prevent individuals from submitting counterfeit fingerprints.
